Merrily we roll along through April in our A to Z Challenge. This word rhymes with "Schenectady."
Synechdoche
Where do we
get words like this? It's pronounced
sin-EK-do-kee and means something that represents a larger whole. If you were to say "I want your daughter's hand in marriage," for example, you probably mean you want to marry the whole woman and not just her hand.
Not to be confused with Schenectady.
Cute :)
