A to Z Challenge: Jolly boat

This month brings the A to Z Challenge, which I choose to meet with a series of words that thus far may have escaped your attention, sometimes deservedly so. Today's word is (all right, today's words are)

Jolly boat
Back in the days of sailing ships, a boat used to ferry people ashore from a ship.

Clearly a happy boat to float in!

Thanks for visiting :)

I like a Jolly boat name for such its use! Makes the journey seem like a happy one.

I love the theme, Bob! (And "sometimes deservedly so" made me laugh.) As a word nerd, these once-commonplace, now-fallen-into-obscurity parts of speech make me all tingly and happy :)

Thanks for the visit over at Quiet Laughter ! Loved finding your name in the comments :)

I'm betting when the seas were rough, that boat was anything but jolly! Thanks for the introduction to the word(s)--"jolly boat" is new to me.
