D is for Deming

D is for Deming, New Mexico, an hour's drive west of Las Cruces on I-10. It's small and quiet, and exists, I believe, because it was a convenient place for trains to stop for water. On the outskirts of town are the remnants of an old WWII army base and POW camp. Nothing much of it remains. But the city has the Deming Luna Mimbres Museum, which is worth an hour of your time if you're passing through town.

Since you've stopped by, please leave me a note in the comments section. I'll make a point of returning the favor.

Love the Roadrunner pic. It's kind of funny the way they have the tank parked in the museum lot, like someone drove it there.

I have never been here before, but my husband and I have driven by Las Cruces a number of times!

Your photo makes me long for a roadtrip out west. :)

I'm not sure in our adventures when we lived in Santa Fe if we ever made it to or through Deming. I do remember my hubby's parents talking about it when they came to visit.

I believe they have an annual rock and gem show in Deming. Close by is Rockhound State Park.
