E is for
El Paso, the West Texas city that until my retirement I had never expected to see, let alone visit once per month for the El Paso Writers' League. To its north, it's smack up against the Franklin Mountains; to its south, the Rio Grande and Ciudad Juarez. My friend Maritza Neely painted this wonderful impression of the city back in 2010, and it captures the essence of El Paso and its cultural connection to Mexico.

Great picture your friend did! I did drive through El Paso once :)

That's a lovely painting. Chances are it's a place I will never visit being in the UK, and to be fair at first glace of the blog heading, I thought you were going to talk about food! But that's Old El Paso :)
Sadly haven't been to Texas either. Keep the tour going, this is awesome. :)
I've not been to El Paso but my son traveled there once. He thought it a very interesting city--a bit different though than the midwestern city he grew up in.
Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

Been to Texas but not El Paso, but now I have that song running through my head "down in the West Texas town of El Paso...
Never been there. Bummer, the image isn't appearing for me.
I've always wanted to visit, but the only part of Texas I've made it to is Waco, and the little town nearby called China Spring where my friends live. We drove from CO. Didn't know TX had lush places. Their ranch is on a river, and just gorgeous. Had a great time.
I really like your friend's painting!

I can't remember if I've been to El Paso...oh, wait. Yes I have...in my little motorhome when I was a solo traveler.

I've only been through the Texas panhandle, but I have some wonderful things from a store in El Paso, I wish I could remember the name. It's huge, I think, they sell blankets, and Mexican style things, bags and such. Thanks for stopping by my blog.
Inger, you must be thinking about El Paso Saddle Blanket. It's a huge store with tons of good stuff.
